What your broker really costs you
Broker comparisons online almost always mention the order fee and leave out the rest. Here you add it all up: order fees, savings-plan fees, account fees, and ongoing fund costs.
The bid-ask spread isn't included, since it can't be estimated reliably. So actual costs are likely somewhat higher.

Frequently asked questions
Why isn't a zero order fee automatically cheap?
Because the cost then usually sits in the spread or in payments from the execution venue.
Which type of cost matters most for long-term investors?
Recurring costs like account fees, since they act on the entire, growing holding.
